It seems to be common sense that there is a connection between the body and the mind. And it has been known for a long time that there are parts of the brain responsible for controlling certain operations and areas of the body.
Wilder Penfield even created a diagram to show the brain areas "responsible" for each organ (which has since been updated, based on the latest discoveries), demonstrating this direct connection.A recent study found data that indicate the possibility of connections even between these various areas of the brain, that is, the existence of a map of the body embedded in our brain, where these interrelations reside.
This could help explain some baffling phenomena, such as why anxiety makes some people want to pace; why stimulating the vagus nerve, which regulates internal organ functions such as digestion and heart rate, can alleviate depression; and why people who exercise regularly report a more positive outlookof life.
Whether to regulate the body by the mind, or the mind by the body, any option is good to find some balance (even if achieving perfection is not within reach of mortals :) )
