The whole is greater than the sum of the parts - The analysis of a body

How the concepts of Mathematics, Metaphysics or Systems Theory deconstruct formulas to analyze a person and his body

The purpose of this topic is to lightly touch on the concept of analyzing a body, whether in the context of pain or other human sensation, and to give a new insight into the kind of global and integrated analyses. Since ancient times, we have been told that we are more than the sum of our parts: we are composed of atoms, but we are something beyond that.

One of the main issues concerns what is measurable and what is not, making these last variables add necessary information for a more effective analysis.

Variables, for example, that are related to individual experience, emotions, what is felt and thought, etc.

As the body is composed of a series of systems, systems theory tries to give us a comprehensive perspective, coinciding with the bio-psycho-social models that are also used in clinical practice.

The use of physical and social scientific studies tries to unify science in order to find a consensus and at the same time give robustness to the studies. This holistic approach tries to encompass all the information to become an exact science, but as the purpose is to find theories and not miraculous solutions, it at least allows us to broaden horizons and evolve. Above all, consider that the system is open and subject to change.

The way I integrate Mathematics into the study of the body is based on the following: there are variable concepts (weight, age, height,...), variances and standard deviations in structures, the concept of normality, extreme values, statistics of the population, the incidence of a certain complaint, ...

Furthermore, I also refer to the plasticity of the body, and the possibility of altering values in terms of pain felt, mobility, well-being, and which will cause changes in the person (which, as we have seen, is an "open system"). There are external factors, in the form of therapies, medications, exercises and others, which alter a formula that is adapted to each individual in order to obtain a healthier body (both physically and mentally), further extending its effect to society. There

The important thing is to emphasize that there is no single formula to treat each body, but we can think that there are ingredients that in diversity and in the correct dose can be adapted to each case.
