Symmetry and balance in the body, in art and in nature The concept of symmetry can be related to that of balance (or normality). Much of what we consider beautiful is (at least on a 2D plane) apparently symmetrical: a face, a butterfly, a plant. But if we analyze more in detail, there are always some differences. And that's why a human body is grouped into pseudo-symmetrical bodies (if not, by the position of the internal organs). Regarding body therapies, the objective will not be so much to judge the normality or symmetry of the body, but rather its functionality and the management of the balance of forces that makes it move.
There is a bit of an artist in every therapist, in the sense that it is first necessary to see and understand the "object" and then apply the technique of his art. Looking not only at a dimensional body (posture), but also understanding the experiences and thus activating and balancing properly. This sensitivity is important so that the end result is something that both the therapist and the patient can understand. As we aim to balance the body and relieve pain and tension, we do not promise symmetry, as perfection (if such a concept exists, perhaps it is only in nature and on a very small scale), will not be within our reach.
