Physical activity in nature is essential and cross-cutting at all ages, and for that it is important to have motivation and the absence of pain (for example, at the level of the hip or knee).
Bowen's therapy helps balance the body, relieving pain and promoting activities that are gradual and adapted to each person.
For example, something as simple as walking can be a daunting task for someone with joint pain in a knee or ankle.
As we see in this image, joint activities can also create stronger emotional ties that cause good feelings and additional motivation.
Another of the benefits of doing it together has to do with the fact that we focus less on the obstacles. We feel more secure, and the body relaxes and loses fears. If we feel like it and prefer it, there are also benefits of doing it solo, where we gain more awareness of movement and sensations in the body, recognizing which parts are most pleasant or unpleasant.
In addition, the objective is not just the destination ahead, but also the setbacks. An example of this is the evidence that we get relief from joint pain if we walk backwards :)
By walking more slowly and controlling our stride, in addition to varying strength and exercising more muscles, there are balance gains and we avoid the repetition of effort that causes the pain. In this way, we gain new skills that allow us to deal with situations of pain.
Another point to highlight, especially with age, is the loss of muscle mass, especially after the age of 45. Physical activity, regardless of intensity, despite not stopping, can mitigate the degenerative effects and allow for better mobility and lifestyle.
Ask for help, get to know yourself and make your walk :)
